AmaWaterways has debuted the design of its newest ship, the AmaMagna, which is scheduled for a 2019 launch on the Danube River.

The ship will be twice as wide as typical European river ships. This will enable AmaWaterways to add multiple dining venues, including al fresco, glass-enclosed restaurant.

The most innovative offering is the new watersports platform. Sure to be a hit with guests of all ages, it will also serve to enhance onboard activities. This type of feature is a first for river cruising and it will provide guests access to zodiac boats, canoes and other recreational equipment.

AmaWaterways in no stranger to innovation when it comes to upgrading recreational offerings. It was the first river cruise company to offer guests access to bikes onboard.

It’s not just the passenger experience that will be getting an upgrade with the debut of the AmaMagna. The engine will also feature the latest technology.

AmaWaterways will debut a quieter, more eco-friendly and more fuel-efficient engine.

“As the luxury river cruise market continues to grow, we want to carry on as the leader in industry innovation,” said Rudi Schreiner, president and co-owner of AmaWaterways.

“AmaMagna will provide guests with generous personal space, the freedom of multiple dining choices and exceptional stateroom comfort. Combining this with our award-winning cuisine, noteworthy shore excursions and remarkable onboard service, we feel this ship is a game-changer.”

The ship will feature 97 staterooms with a capacity for 194 guests. These rooms will be spacious with a majority of the cabins having more than 300 square feet of space.

While new amenities will be available, old favorites will also continue to be on offer—with upgrades, of course. There will be a heated, sundeck swimming pool with a whirlpool and a sky deck. a spacious spa area, a fitness room large enough for small-group classes and a larger common area that will allow Ama to offer a wider variety of onboard events.

“We’ve expanded the options for our guests by incorporating exceptional epicurean adventures, and new wellness offerings. Our guests deserve the very best and we are always thinking about new opportunities that will give them the vacation of a lifetime,” said Schreiner. “Now is the perfect time for us to introduce a new concept of luxurious European river cruising.”
